We still made more power even though temperatures were highest during our test. Barometric pressure was all about 28 in-Hg and humidity was 13% for the GYRT and Thumper, stock run was 28%. It's interesting to note the ambient temp between the 3 runs is was stock 61deg, GYRT 82deg and ThumperRacing 95. We are giving up 15cc to the GYRT and are still making more power. I didn't bring the stock header with me or I would have gotten a run with it as well.Īll in all I'm very happy with the results. Using the stock header would have improved this area and we would have run at or above the GYRT through here as well. There is a slight dip in HP and Tq from 6500 to 8800rpms. To get a 570 with genuine KTM parts you have to install a 540 kit and Stroker crank. Well, why KTM hasn't been building these as a 570 or 610cc is a mystery for the ages! Thumper racing makes a 570 kit using just a larger piston. It was fast, it did what I asked, but lots of flywheel, not very exciting. I loved my 530 but always felt it lacked the sizzle. Still keeping it under 1/2 throttle but as smooth as stock, or better, the instant torque is right there and it'll knock the front wheel up just by thinking about it. It lit up on the first touch of the button and was idling like it had never been apart! I primed it with bursts of starter while holding down the kill switch. I've finished the heat cycles and first light break in ride and can't knock the stupid grin off my face. The install requires a case split and machine work to the base gasket area to fit the bigger cylinder, so a good time for a new crank and merged oil sumps too.
